Worldgate Centre - Pool Dehumidifier

The indoor pool and whirlpool areas at Worldgate Athletic Club were suffering from excessive temperature and humidity fluctuations due to an aging pool dehumidifier that could no longer control the space.

Commercial Express HVAC performed an engineering review of the space and proposed a new dehumidification system that would not only solve the space temperature / humidity concerns, but also reduce operating costs by incorporating energy saving techniques such as hot gas reheat, pool water energy recovery, exhaust air energy recovery, and integration into the Building Automation System to maximize efficiency.

Worldgate Centre - Retail Cooling Towers

The retail shops at the Worldgate Centre in Herndon, VA were served by two 150-ton cooling towers that were past their useful service life and in need of replacement.

Working with the property owner, RAPPAPORT, Commercial Express HVAC Installed two new BAC cooling towers along with upgraded steel supports, two new centrifugal system pumps with variable frequency drives to provide soft start and balancing, sediment filtration system to prevent debris buildup in the tower basins and reduce maintenance, and a new dedicated Carrier i-Vu building automation system to optimize performance and provide system monitoring and control.

Broderick One at Loudoun Gateway

Beginning in 2019, Commercial Express HVAC started a multi-year project with the LGV Group, owner/operator of the Broderick One office building at Loudoun Gateway.  Leadership at the LGV Group wanted to provide state-of-the-art mechanical systems that could be customized and integrated into the architecture of the future tenant spaces, while providing top tier energy efficiency and reliability.

Commercial Express HVAC engaged this project in a design-build capacity, handling the mechanical engineering design in-house, as well as construction.  The mechanical design included 104 tons of Mitsubishi VRF heat pump systems with heat recovery branch boxes to provide simultaneous heating and cooling throughout the building, as needed.  A dedicated outside air system with integral energy recovery wheel was installed to handle the conditioning of fresh air delivery to the tenant spaces.

This project consisted of approximately 58,000 square feet of office space spread among five levels.

Aireco Supply

Commercial Express HVAC partnered with one of our longtime equipment vendors, Aireco Supply, to replace their aging boiler and water heater with a new high efficiency condensing boiler and domestic water storage tank to serve their office located in Arlington, VA.  We used ProPress copper fittings and arranged all the piping along the back wall for a clean aesthetic.  This one was a work of art!

Burke & Herbert Bank

Commercial Express HVAC partnered with design-build firm, Speedwell Construction, to complete a 44,000 square foot tenant fit-out of the 6th, 7th & 8th floor for Burke & Herbert Bank.  Commercial Express HVAC handled the mechanical and plumbing engineering design and installation, while coordinating with the A/E team for additional disciplines.  The project consisted of new VAV systems throughout, two computer room AC units, and integration into the building automation system.

Bethesda Row

A new restaurant was moving into the first floor of a multi-story building at Bethesda Row in Maryland.  They needed a way to get their kitchen makeup air and exhaust grease ductwork up to the roof, but there was no shaft or clean pathway available within the building envelope.  We installed prefabricated double wall kitchen ductwork along the side of the building up to the equipment on the roof, while still maintaining a clean aesthetic on the building façade.

Washington Golf & Country Club

Commercial Express HVAC partnered with Washington Golf & Country Club to provide a turn-key design-build solution to provide air conditioning to their two indoor tennis facilities totaling 35,000 square feet.  We developed a plan to install new packaged rooftop units with indoor fabric duct to provide uniform air distribution throughout the facility.  Commercial Express HVAC led the design team for all disciplines on this project, handling the complete engineering package and construction services.
